Brochure Websites

These are the simplest websites to produce, typically comprising five pages, including one 'contact us' page. The pages are designed to comply with Web Standards as set out by the World Wide Web Commission (W3C), so that they can be viewed on all internet browsers by all users. This ensures that your website can be viewed by everyone visiting it. We also design pages to comply with Accessibility Standards, which means that people with disabilities can also use your website.

We also optimise the website so that it appears higher in the Search Engine rankings, and submit it to the major search engines to be included in the search results.

eCommerce Solutions

This type of website is more advanced, in that it allows payment to be taken online. We currently offer two types of eCommerce solutions.

The simplest eCommerce website is a brochure website that has 'buy now' buttons allowing the user to purchase goods online. This type of site is ideal for customers who have a small range of items they wish to sell, or intangible goods (such as selling their time).

The more advanced eCommerce system provides a shopping cart to the user, whereby you can add items to the cart, and then 'checkout', where the user is required to sign in and enter their details before goods can be dispatched. This type of site provides a full back-end catalogue where your stock can be viewed and maintained, allowing items to be added or removed by you.

These eCommerce websites can be combined with your brochure website if you wish, allowing seamless integration between your website and online shop.

Online bulletin boards provide a place for users to discuss and interact online. We set up and host this system for you and integrate into your existing website, if required.

Content Management System setup and hosting

We provide the initial framework, known as a content management system. It is an online application that allows you to create and maintain the website yourself. Items can be added and removed using the online interface, enabling users with some computing knowledge to maintain their own website(s). Additional information can be added to the website and the entire site altered using the templates provided if desired.

We can provide an online gallery where artists can showcase their work. The galleries allow the user to upload their images and provide details about them. We can then integrate a shopping cart allowing the artists to sell their work online, or provide a link to their brochure website.

Domain Name Registration

In order to have a website on the internet, you need a domain name. This is the www.something.com or www.somethingelse.co.uk that all websites have. Upon registering a domain name, it is allocated to you for a set period of time (determined when registering). When you register a domain name, you typically get email addresses associated with this address e.g. someone@something.com. These email addresses act as a forwarding mechanism onto your existing email address. If you do not have an existing email address, an alternative method is to redirect to an online webmail system (e.g. googlemail or hotmail).

Website Hosting

In order to have a website, you need somewhere for it to exist on the internet. These are typically on powerful computers permanently connected to the internet. Once you register a domain name, you 'point' it at the hosting webspace in order for your page to be viewable.

Think of it as the domain name being the PO Box number, and the website hosting being the post box in the post office. You cannot have one without the other.

Logo Design

We provide a service whereby we can design a logo for your company. We work with you to understand your expectations and then we design the logo for you. The logo will then be provided to you in picture format on your computer, allowing you to incorporate it into your stationery. We will include the logo onto your website if so desired.

Search Engine Optimisation and Submission

In order for your website to appear when someone searches for it on a search engine (e.g. www.google.com, www.yahoo.com), it needs to be optimised to make it appear higher in the search results. By intelligent use of Web Standards, we are able to ensure that the web pages contain only content which makes them rank higher in the search order. We also employ a number of good practices which also improve the page ranking. All our sites are optimised in this way, but if your existing website is not performing well in the search engine rankings, we can work on your site to improve its performance.
